Shevchenko praises Dynamo determination

FC Dynamo Kyiv forward Andriy Shevchenko praised his team-mates for the effort and belief they showed against Besiktas JK after Denys Garmash's added-time goal moved the Ukrainian side above their visitors in UEFA Europa League Group E.  Shevchenko expects a tough encounter when Dynamo make the reciprocal visit to Istanbul on 3 November, but team-mate Goran Popov is confident of further success.

Andriy Shevchenko, Dynamo forward
We attacked for 90 minutes and created many good chances. Our guys put in a lot of effort towards this achievement. We did believe we would get the victory right until the end and were rewarded for that. Nonetheless, we have to work on converting our scoring opportunities into goals. We expect a much tougher game in Turkey. Besiktas will attack and put all their efforts into winning.

Goran Popov, Dynamo defender
I would not say we had a lot of chances but it is good that we scored in added time. It worked out, and we won the three points. That's the important thing for us. If we play the same as in the first half [in Istanbul] then I think we will not make it as difficult as it was in the second half today.

We know we have a difficult group, including Besiktas and Stoke City, but as I said, if we play like we did in the first half here, then we won't have any difficulties. We must not relax, because in football if you cannot score, they will score, so when we play such teams we must get goals early to make it easier later on.

Carlos Carvalhal, Besiktas coach
The game was absolutely equal. We had our chances and deserved at least a draw tonight. Unfortunately, we conceded in the last minute and got no points from the match.

If we had come out of here with a draw it would have been great but we still have an equal chance of qualifying. Nothing will be decided until the final group matches. Nevertheless, I am satisfied with my team's overall performance. I am sure we'll be more focused in our future games and get better results. Nothing is decided in the group yet, and we believe in a positive outcome.
